چکیده

Visit analog.com There are several types of temperature sensors that can be used in a temperature system. The temperature sensor to use depends on the temperature range being measured and the accuracy required. Along with the sensor, the accuracy of the temperature system depends on the performance of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to which the sensor is interfaced. A high resolution ADC is required in many cases as the magnitude of the signal from the sensor is quite small. Sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) ADCs are suitable for these systems as they are high resolution devices. They also have additional circuitry embedded on-chip, which is required in a temperature system such as excitation currents and reference buffers. This article describes 3-wire and 4-wire resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) that are commonly used. It describes the circuitry needed to interface a sensor to an ADC along with explaining the performance requirements needed from the ADC.

A Model For The Residence Time Distribution and Holdup Measurement in a Two Impinging Streams Cyclone Reactor/Contactor in Solid-Liquid Systems

In this paper a two impinging streams cyclone contacting system suitable for handling of solid-liquid systems has been studied. Certain pertinent parameters such as: solid holdup, mean residence time and Residence Time Distribution (RTD) of solid particles have been investigated. A stochastic model based on Markov chains processes has been applied which describe the behavior of solid partic...

Resonant-Tunneling Diode and its Application to Multi-GHz Analog-to-Digital Converters

Characteristic features of resonant-tunneling diode (RTD) and a goal of RTD-based IC technology are discussed. Our recent results on RTD-based analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are then presented. These include designs of a 5-bit 10-GHz flash ADC and a bandpass continuous-time delta-sigma modulator with a center frequency of 500 MHz, which show high potential of RTD-based ultrahigh-speed circ...

The Impact of Multiplexing on the Dynamic Requirements of Analog-to-Digital Converters - Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Transactions on

In data acquisition applications where the signals being digitized are produced in a time-division multiplexed system, the required dynamic performance of the analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is no longer bound by the conditions set forth in the Sampling Theorem. This results from the introduction of very high-frequency information by the multiplexing process which, while not necessarily conta...

Infrared Thermopile Temperature Measurement Technique in Microwave Heating Systems

Temperature measurement in microwave systems is essential for thermally driven processes, namely, catalytic reactions and ceramic sintering. Although, the application of direct thermometry methods, namely, thermocouples, have been commonly articulated in the available literature, however, contacted temperature measurement mechanisms have aroused concerns associated with the disruption of the el...
